Lake Koenigssee near Berchtesgaden
One of the most romantic excursions in the Bavarian Alps is a boat trip across lake
Koenigssee with its green, clear waters. At the far end of the narrow lake, embraced
by monumental mountains, a waterfall and a 17th century chapel in the hamlet of St
Bartholomae add to the picturesque scenery.
A bobsleigh course in the neighborhood of lake Koenigssee and the town of
Berchtesgaden is one of the technically most difficult runs of the world. Due to further
improvements in 1968, a speed of up to 120 km/h can be reached.
