Soccer in Munich
More than 100 years ago, soccer became an attractive sport in Munich. Both teams
look back on a long tradition – “TSV Muenchen 1860”, the “Blue Lions” and “FC
Bayern Muenchen”, the “Red Bavarians”. FC Bayern, founded in 1900, is one of the most
successful teams world wide. Since 2005, the soccer stadium Allianz Arena is their
home. For a home match of one of the Munich teams, the air inflated cushions of the
facade are illuminated and then glow in the respective color blue or red.
In the course of an entertaining soccer tour, the history of both Munich teams comes
to life. The soccer museum, one of the biggest in Germany, is well worth a visit.
