Tour of the Olympic Grounds
The 20th Olympic Summer Games were held in Munich from August 26th to
September 11th 1972. “Games in a green park and games of short walks” was one of
the mottos. A team of German architects found a revolutionary design for the famous
tent roof made from steel and translucent acrylic glass and integrated all the
stadiums into the beautiful landscape park.
As one of the favorite recreation areas in town the Olympic Grounds feature many
sports and cultural events. There is a revolving restaurant in the Olympic Tower and
from the visitors’ platforms the view south reveals the spectacular panorama of the
Alps.

The Sea Life Center in the park with 4.500 different sea animals has also become an
attraction for all generations.
At the north western end of a pedestrian bridge reaching from the Olympic Grounds
to the Olympic village a memorial was put up in honour of the Israeli athletes who
were victims of a murderous attack during the Olympic Games.
